What inspired you to create your works like The Stinky Cheeseman and how did you think it would appeal to kids?

One of my daughter's favorite books when she was little was The Gingerbread Man. We read that book 3,247,622 times. Then the next day we had to read it some more. So I wondered what would happen if the Little Old Lady ran out of gingerbread. I figured she would make him out of something else. Something like Stinky Cheese. And I knew it would appeal to kids' sense of loving to mess things up. Because I was a second grade teacher for years. And that's exactly what we loved to do.

What are your plans as the first Ambassador?

I plan to use my platform to reach reluctant readers and to help put worried parents at ease. Relax and let your kids read what interests them! All reading is reading, whether it be non-fiction, graphic novels, or just plain silly books.
